FAQ

Why hire a professional pet sitter or dog walker?

We all care about our pets, and when we are busy at work or on vacation we want to make sure our pets are cared for in the best way possible by someone who knows what they are doing. For dogs, going out on a walk for most is the highlight of their day, they get stimulation from the smells, sights and sounds around them, they get exercise and it stops them from becoming bored and lonely. A good dog walker ensures your dog gets the right amount of exercise, which prevents them from being destructive or lonely, and ensures you come home to a relaxed and tired pooch. A good pet sitter and dog walker knows warning signs to look out for to identify stress, illness or injury in pets and what action to take.

Why hire Ruth's Dog Walking LLC?

There is no official requirement to become a dog walker or pet sitter, therefore anyone can set themselves up as one. However, to care for your pet properly you need to ensure that your dog walker / pet sitter is properly trained, experienced and has the right set up to ensure your pet is kept safe and happy. At Ruth's Dog Walking, we are these things: animal care qualified, trained, pet first aid and CPR trained, licensed, bonded and insured.

I'm worried about the risks of someone coming to my home in light of Covid-19 virus, do you have any procedures on this?

Yes, we have documented, detailed procedures that all employees of Ruth's Dog Walking are trained on and adhere to.  These procedures are regularly reviewed to ensure any new guidance from CDC or the State are implemented.  Your safety as well as the safety of our employees is our priority. Do you visit all year, in any weather?

No matter the weather, your pet still needs their exercise and stimulation...and the ability to relieve their bladder! So yes, we visit in the rain and sun and the best that the Puget Sound has to offer. However, in harsher weather be that snow, sun or rain, changes may be made to the route / times to protect your pet.

Do you have a list of references we can contact?

Yes, we are proud of our service and have a list of references we can provide for cats, dogs and small animals.  As the references are clients we simply ask you to contact them at courteous times. Our review page also highlights the kind of business we are and the kind of services we provide.  Our reviews can be viewed by clicking here

I'm worried about leaving my pet, they are not normally on their own. Can you help me?

Yes, we offer a range of different services that cater for nervous pets, including overnight stays and day care packages.  Check out our services page for more information

I've had a really bad experience with a pet sitter / dog walker in the past, what assurances can you give me?

Sadly, we have heard this comment many times.  We will meet initially for a free meet and greet (in person at your home or online due to current restrictions), where you are encouraged to ask as many questions as you need to feel comfortable.  We live by our core values and mission statement - which can be seen on the home page which can be reached by clicking here.  Repeat service and word of mouth referrals are key to the continued strength of our business, therefore we work with you from the get-go to understand what you need from us and what you and your pet need in order to get stress free service.  We supply updates and photographs throughout your vacation so you can ensure your pet is happy at all times.

How do I sign up?
